Cabot@IBC 2009
Tuesday 15 September:
Our final day at the IBC exhibition and with two hours left the last of the USB keys are distributed (to stand visitors who promise faithfully to watch the Cabot presentation contained therein). The Cabot team are all very tired after a late night at the Hard Rock Café accompanied by a few cocktails each.
So all in all it's been a very successful exhibition. Huge thanks to everyone who's been involved in the preparation and presentation of the company.
Here's toasting a return in 2010 for more of the same. Thanks for following the blog.
Monday 14 September:
Mondays are notoriously busy at IBC and 2009 is no disappointment. The stand has been crowded all morning and the whole team are working their 'sales tails' off!
Alpana has arrived on stand today and is dying to show off her Robotester testing skills as the resident expert. Roll up, roll up, hear all about it :o)
The set-up/shut-down team were advised early this morning (by our IBC stand neighbours) that we also seem to be controlling their electricity supply! After agreeing a small electricity ransom fee we agreed not to complete our close-down without at least giving them the opportunity to shut down their demo's ;o) Sorry IneoQuest, thankfully no harm done!
Tonights team entertainment is dinner at The Hard Rock Café, Amsterdam. Just when we thought we couldn't face another thing to eat... but, we're all looking forward to our final team dinner and hopefully will enjoy a cocktail or two to celebrate another successful year of hard work and hard play. Is a Cabot detox on the menu for next week?
Sunday 13 September:
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... what a late night for the Cabot team. With a few hours sleep and some good, strong coffee, the set-up team have the stand open for the Sunday visitors. We have a team change today, so safe journey and many thanks to the first phase stand manning team and we look forward to seeing the rest of the team to tag and present fresh smiles and new feet to the stand.
Minutes after the show has opened and the meeting room is once again filled with visitors. Graham and Bob have divided to conquer all the meetings they need to attend and still the stand is buzzing. This morning it's all about CI+ and Andy and Chris are walking visitor after visitor through the demo's. We're expecting a mass influx of visitors at about 14:30 to view our DVB-S demonstration (or perhaps they'll just be cheekily watching the Grand Prix!). Anyhoo, everyone is welcome to enjoy Cabot technology, whatever their interest :o)
Saturday 12 September:
The first full day of IBC opened with a bustle of interesting visitors and a small catastrophé (by way of JenB getting a heel stuck in a power cable and taking down half the display demos!). Panic over, coffee machine back up and running and it seems that Saturday is a slower footfall day than the working week. DVB T2 is still proving to be hugely popular with all the right people asking all the right questions. More to follow later....
Friday 11 September:
Early start to make sure everything is where we left it, clean, tidy and boots up as planned. The full Cabot compliment arrive and we receive our first live T2 broadcast. With a little bit of careful manoeuvring of the aerial, it works and we are proudly demo'ing the Cabot DVB T-2 solution and there is a good flow of interest around it too.
Widgets are also attracting a good amount of interest, if you're reading this, and in the vicinity of 1.F48, feel free to drop by and check them out.
Photos to follow as soon as we can liberate the camera from the busy meeting room!
Here it is...

Thursday 10 September:
Well... what a day! The stand builders were on site at 8.30am and the Cabot team were on stand at 10... and remained on stand for a further 12 hours. Whilst we didn't encounter any major technical difficulties (aside from trying to boot our DVB-T2 demo without fitting the power cable first) it was a long and slow build day.
PS. Thanks Ant for your kind message and for following our blog :o)
Wednesday 9 September:
The equipment and stand is en-route to Amsterdam with Phoenix Corporate Designs and the Cabot set-up team are packed and ready for departure.
