In order to provide manufacturers with access to a range of media content access technology, Cabot have developed a multi-media content viewer which provides easy access to MP3s, JPEGs and games (depending on platform capability).
Media Browser provides the user with all the functionality expected of traditional MP3 players with the additional benefits provided by its file operation and viewing functions. The music player allows single or multiple MP3 files within a given folder to be played with full trick mode support. Tracks can be shuffled, so that files will be played in a random sequence, or looped, enabling single or multiple files to be played continuously. ID3 tags are enabled allowing information such as the title, artist, album, track number or other information about the file to be displayed. Mpeg1-layer3 files are supported with constant and variable bit rates up to 320 kbps.
In addition to this functionality, Media Browser enables browsing of media files stored on the internal hard disk drives or on external mass storage devices connected via USB. This includes the ability to copy, delete, move or rename files and folders, with Unicode characters being fully supported on file names. Personal DTR recordings can also be easily exported to USB devices, through the supported USB 2.0 hi-speed interface.
The picture viewer supports JPEG picture files up to 25 Megapixels and provides the user with the ability to:
- View thumbnail previews while browsing
- Switch to full screen viewing
- Create slideshows including concurrent MP3 playback
- Shuffle or loop slideshows
- Rotate pictures, with the ability to flip and zoom images being planned for future Media Browser
Cabot will continue to develop Media browser capabilities, including external Hard Disk DTRs and multiple format video playback (depending on platform capabilities).
